HEY, I'M EVÓRA!

I’m a trend setter, an adventurer, a coffee lover and a photographer! I love experiments and personal projects. Finding new perspectives and breathing in new life into old boring scenes is what inspires and gets me excited! If you call yourself a creative, proudly wear that title, be memorable, inspire others and always be ahead of the crowd! Be Evóra!

  • From day 1 we had the Stooges Brass Band and Hot 8 Brass Band. Unfortunately, the brass band culture is ever changing. This year we hired the Big 6 Brass Band with Sporty Brass Band. Both musical groups have former members of the Stooges Brass Band. In the words of the late John Lewis , it was “good trouble”.
  • Uptown
  • Our club is know for our fancy big hats! We also put on a show each year for the parade. Our kids division, as they say, ” got that footwork”. The ladies are pretty, sassy, and sashay during the celebration. It’s a day of release and relaxation for all the hard work through out the year.
  • Yes, we select a king and queen annually.
  • Traditional our parade is in the Uptown area of Greater New Orleans. Most of our traditional stops no longer exist post Hurricane Katrina. However, some of our stops include Tapps Lounge, Sportsman Corner, Silky’s , The Other Place, Sandpiper, and Horace Bar. This year the parade began near Lee Circle at the Neutral Ground Bar and Grill( new spot) .
  • VIP Ladies’ perform every year for Jazz fest on the second Thursday.
  • Yes our organization has social media presence. Our website : www.vipladiesandkids.com; Facebook VIP Ladies and Kids
  • I would like to see the city of New Orleans allow the backstreet culture of Second-lines parade without in fringed fees. Cultural traditions should have standard fee structures. Mardi Gras Parades cost $750 for permitting, sanitation, and escort fees for NOPD for several hours. Second lines pay anywhere from $1925- to $3500 to parade for 4 hours without sanitation. We should be respected and treated the same as other cultural groups in this vibrant city we love!!!!!
